Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the camp?

The camp will take place in Rovinj, Croatia

How do I get there?

The closest airports are:

  • Pula Airport (PUY)  - Ližnjan, Valtursko polje 210, 52100, Pula, Croatia
  • Treviso Airport - International Airport Treviso A. Canova (TSF)

Is there a minimum age for participation?

You must be at least 18 years old in order to attend the camp.

I'm not sure if I'm free on those dates yet and/or can't afford to buy a ticket right now. Can I reserve a spot at the camp and pay later once I've made my decision/ saved enough money?

Sorry, but we can't bookmark spots for people in advance. It would make it far too difficult to accurately determine how many spots are still available and would cause additional confusion if people then cancel their reserved spots on short notice. To make it fair for everyone, we only secure camp spots for people who have bought a ticket.

Can I bring my kids to sit around/on the mats during the camp?

In order to create a quiet and focused training environment for the camp classes, we ask you to not bring your kids to the training area during camp. It would not be much of an issue with one or two, but if we allow one, we have to allow all and then we could risk suddenly having way too many babies and children there. Thank you for your understanding of this.

What are the terms and conditions of the booking?

Are jiu jitsu and martial arts safe?

Yes :)

But understand that all combat sports carry with them a risk of injury like most sports do. Every participant will require their own Travel insurance or be covered by a Health Insurance Cover in Croatia.

How many gis or what training gear should I bring?

Even though we supply a laundry service for training gear (rash-guards, shorts and gis) we recommend you have a minimum of 1-2 rashies and 1 shorts per session. If you intend to participate in both the morning session and the afternoon session, please bring a minimum of 2 rashies and 2 shorts per day. The laundry service will be overnight and ready for the next day.  Same goes for kimonos, 1 gi per session and 2 gis if you intend to train in the morning and afternoon/evening. BJJ is a close contact sport and we expect a high level of hygiene from all participants. Also bring whatever you would normally use like finger tape or other protective gear. As well as a pair of flipflops or slides to wear from the shower/bathrooms to the mats.

Anything else I should bring apart from my normal training gear?

If you enjoy snorkelling or freediving, then a diving mask and possibly fins. There are some special spots around and our plan boat excursion will take you around to some of them. Also, there is a diving centre in available at your accommodation which is meters away from the shore.

Will I be allowed to film during the camp?

Yes, but always check with the instructor beforehand.

I only train with/without the gi, will there be enough training for me?

Yes! Just be aware that our camps are usually organised to be either nogi or gi for the full camp. In general, we organise camps that have a 6hrs minimum of jiu jitsu per day and hope it is enough on a daily basis. We are trying to balance camps with holiday time also. But please don’t hesitate to contact us if extra training is needed as other activities are available and access to extra workouts can be arranged ahead of time (before the camp starts).

Where do the participants come from?

Our camps are usually attended by happy people from all over the world.

What language will the classes be taught in?

All classes are in English.

Is it possible to do private lessons with the instructors?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer this service. But you are welcome to talk with the instructors directly to make an appointment while attending the camp.

Is this just a BJJ camp?

Yes.

Will I receive a ticket in the mail?

There are no physical tickets for the camps. You will receive the confirmation and digital ticket via email. Your name is also on our list when you arrive and check in.

When will there be training?

Training will run every day! You will receive the exact schedule latest after check in.

I'm a complete beginner, can I still join?

Yes!! We have beginners participating in our camps. But it helps to have a basic understanding of some sort of a grappling sport, ideally minimum a few months of BJJ.
